How shy are you?
July 2nd 2007
Here is a test from Wellesley Collage to see how shy you are. There are 13 questions statements to read and then you rate each statement depending if you agree or disagree. A score between 34 and 49 means you are somewhat shy, over 49 very shy and under 34 not particularly shy.
I recommend this test, not so much for the final number you get, but as a possible tool to isolate the area’s that need working on. I got a score of 50, which means I am probably very shy, no surprises there. Nor was it a surprise to me that in groups I have trouble thinking of what to say. But I was pleased to realise that I no longer have trouble asking for information or speaking to someone in authority.

Neat test. I scored a 38, just making it to the “somewhat shy” range. Though with tests like these it’s always tough to answer some of these “absolutes” since it really may depend on the situation.
It’s funny, I actually prefer groups at times, over 1 on 1. Well, if it’s a small group, or a group of folks I know I just feel there’s more people to try to talk to, or that it’s easier to melt into the walls.

I agree, I found with a couple of the questions that my answer would depend on this or that.

I got a 50 too. Drat! I thought I had overcome my shyness. I actually feel much more socially awkward now that I am a stay-at-home mom and am not forced to spend time around adults each day.
