Other Shy Blogs

I have been meaning to write up a list of the other shy-related blogs I enjoy.   If you haven’t already found these blogs on your own, here they are:

Succeed socially.
Run by Chris, the site has loads (and I really mean loads) of wonderful advice regarding all aspects of developing social skills allowing you to have more social success.  Chris has recently started his own blog carnival which you can check out here.

Diary Of A Shy Black Women
I found this blog about the same time I started ‘Don’t Be Shy’.  I find it comforting that I am not alone in this journey to overcome shyness.  Diary of a shy black women follows the thoughts and experience of be a painfully shy women.

Social Turn Around.
This blog follows one shy guy’s journey through the dating world.  You can find James’ blog here and read all about his journey to overcome shyness and find the girl of his dreams.

New ‘Contact Me’ Page.

I have finally added a ‘contact me’ page and it is located after ‘home’ and ‘about me’ on the menu bar.   Previously I had my email address on the ‘about me’ page but for fear of getting loads of spam messages and because any good blog should have a contact form, I am proud to say you can now message me via a contact form.

While testing the contact form I finally accepted the fact that for what ever reason I am unable to read and then correctly type the verification code required to send the message.  I estimate that I get the code right, on the first try, only 40% of the time.  I have no idea why, but v’s, u’s and y’s all look the same, r’s and i’s too, and is it a ’1′ or ’i’ or ‘l’?

How shy are you?

Here is a test from Wellesley Collage to see how shy you are.    There are 13 questions statements to read and then you rate each statement depending if you agree or disagree.  A score between 34 and 49 means you are somewhat shy, over 49 very shy and under 34 not particularly shy.

I recommend this test, not so much for the final number you get, but as a possible tool to isolate the area’s that need working on.   I got a score of 50, which means I am probably very shy, no surprises there.  Nor was it a surprise to me that in groups I have trouble thinking of what to say.  But I was pleased to realise that I no longer have trouble asking for information or speaking to someone in authority.

Audio books that can help you overcome shyness.

I recommend:
1. The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
2. Life strategies: Doing what works, doing what matters by Phil McGraw.
3. Ricky Gervais Podcast, season 1-3.
4. Life Makeovers by Cheryl Richardson.
5. How to win friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

There is something about listening to a book, while doing housework, or cooking, that makes me feel extra productive.  I love audible. I have been a member for a few years, and purchased several audio books.

Audible are currently running a 14- day free trial during which you can download 2 audio books for FREE.   It is a perfect opportunity to get yourself some great audio books.   And if you decide Audible isn’t for you, just cancel and you still get to keep your books.
