5 Top Tips for Shy Job Seekers
1. Networking is important. If the idea off networking scares you, practice. Depending on how confident you are, you can start with metal practice, and then practice with a friend, and then with someone you know but not well. As you feel more confident try to approach one company or call one lead.
2. Set goals. Set yourself some targets for each day, how many people will you write or email, and how many will you call. You don’t need to start out by calling 20 people a day, start low and work your way up.
3. If your confidence takes a knock, take time out. It is ok to take a step back for a short time to regain yourself and your focus.
4. Find your passion and follow it. It is much more motivating to look for work in a field you truly enjoy. Your shyness is more likely to be pushed aside when you are contacting people about something you love.
5. Treat yourself well. Don’t blame or criticize yourself if you miss a job opportunity. Learn from it and move on. Sometimes there might be something you can change or do differently, and sometimes there is nothing you could have done. It’s important to recognize the difference and not to dwell on situations you can’t change.
and Good Luck.
